The body was found Sunday, Jan. 12, about a mile into the woods in Suffern by a father and his children who were riding an ATV in the area, said sources on the scene.
State police, who are handling the case, have not released many details.
An unattended ATV was reportedly found near the body.
It is unknown how long the body had been in the park, but sources said it took officials about three hours to remove the body and conduct an investigation.
The only access point into the woods for first responders was behind 8 Regis Court in the Village of Montebello.
Harriman State Park is located in parts of Rockland and Orange counties.
